Half Day at Khok Kham Bird Center

This is about my half-day trip to Khok Kham in December 10, 2022. The trip was done with my good friend Matt, who started bird photography a few months after I did.

This was a fun trip to Khok Kham that I had on a Sunday, with my friend Matt.

Sorry, there are not many photos for this report.

Trip Target: Spoon-billed Sandpiper

When I arrived, there were many flocks of birds around in the saltpans. I was very excited. As soon as Matt arrived, we started walking out to the birds. The first species we saw was a flock of Kentish Plovers. I got this cool image of them standing with a reflection in the water.

We found a spot that was good to be our "base" under a tree, so it was not so hot. I put my stuff there, and continued walking. Common birds I saw were Black-winged Stilts, and a few Common Greenshanks. I had fun taking flights shots of those. It was starting to get hot, so we went back to our "base".

Later on, I explored the bird hide with Matt, but it was a bit old and really dusty, so we didn't stay. I saw a guy that had a camouflage (ghillie) suit on, so we decided to slowly crawl behind him to see what he was photographing. Apparently, he said the Spoon-billed Sandpiper had flew away a while before we came over, so he told us to go to another saltpan, a few hundred meters away, where the bird stopped at. I crawled with Matt, until we got close to the flock of Red-necked Stints.

Scanning the flock, I took a while to find the Spoon-billed Sandpiper, but I finally did. I got to crawl to the bird at a very close distance. Although Matt didn't get any shots that were really good, I got just a few decent ones, not that good because of the heat.

Conclusion:

TARGET FOUND AND PHOTOGRAPHED! MISSION COMPLETE :)
