One Day Trip around Bangkok

This is about my one-day birding trip around Bangkok, during December 10, 2022. The trip was a fun one with my friend Perth, where we went to multiple places to photograph awesome bird species!

Phuttamonton Park: In the morning, I arrived just outside the park of Phuttamonton, and saw a black baza flying by. Already it was a great start to the day. What I was really there for, was the Asian Emerald Cuckoos. I came with my Canon EOS R7 and the 600mm f/4, and Perth with a Sony A1 attached to a 100-400mm lens. We were ready to shoot. It took us some time, but we found the cuckoos at last, having fun feeding around in the trees. There were males and females everywhere, and it was a fun experience for me to photograph these amazing birds.

"The Noodle Shop": After the cuckoos, I came to this noodle shop (Name: ร้านก๋วยเตี๋ยวหมูต้มยำป้อมธงเขียว) that has a bird hide a little past the parking lot of it. My friend and I were a bit confused at first about... well, everything and where the hide was and stuff... but after a few minutes, we knew what to do. After sitting in the hide for a while, we were bitten by loads of mosquitoes, but got lots of pictures of the Orange-headed Thrush, White-rumped Munia, and most importantly, the Hooded Pitta. The food there was also absolutely fantastic.

Khok Kham Bird Center: After a short break from birding when my mom went shopping at a nearby mall (XD), she drove me to the Khok Kham bird center to find the Spoon-billed Sandpiper. Unfortunately, I found the Spoon-billed Sandpiper 5 seconds before it flew away along with the other species. I did get some cool shots though, of plovers and stints that were in the saltpans. A bunch of terns also flew in the sunset, which was really cool.

Again, it was a fun trip although I didn't get to photograph all my targets. Thank you for reading my first trip report I've done, and if you have any questions, ask me using the chat feature of this website!
